Pre-Interview

I have chosen a personal friend to interview for my Leadership Interview Reflection. I choose to interview her because I have seen her in leadership rolls outside of her work environments and I wanted to gain more knowledge about her experiences and her leadership experiences at her place of work. I have known her all my life, she did not start in the field of nursing right away. She was a manager at a retail store. She decided that she wanted to pursue nursing, with perseverance she completed her degree working a full-time job.  It is inspiring to me that she had the ambition and strength to pursue nursing even though she had a comfortable job.  She did her schooling at a community college at night and worked during the day and received her associate degree. Even though she does not have her masters, or bachelor’s degree she is one of the most caring individuals and well-rounded individual. As a health care provider, I strive to be her because she perseveres even when things got hard or overwhelming. For example, finished school, took the NCLEX and found a job with COVID. Even though she is not specifically in the specialty she wants to have her lifelong career in, she knew she had to find a job to provide for her family to gain experience. I personally believe as a nurse we have a formal lead ship role to advocate for our patients. However, she does not have a management position due to the fact that she just passed her NCLEX two years ago. Her facility is closing due to a decrease government funds, and she will hopefully find a specialty that she enjoys, when the two years of experience. I am most interested in learning about her education and how she adapted into nursing with COVID.
